Hogan Class of 1985 - Don't You (Forget About Me)

Simple Minds' "Don't You (Forget About Me)" peaked at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 on May 18, 1985, one month before our graduation on June 19, 1985.

It was the big hit from "The Breakfast Club," a movie released on February 15, 1985.  The movie and the song always touched a nerve with me since it was about teenagers, cliques, and stereotypes back when we were teenagers in cliques, talking about and some living the stereotypical life.  It was 1985, we were seniors and we were indestructible.  We were going to conquer the world!

Fast forward to now.  We've had our 25th High School Reunion and are starting to think about our 30th reunion.  If you haven't watched the movie, I highly recommend it.  Keep your high school yearbook close by.

Hey, hey, hey ,hey
Ohhh...

Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby

Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on

Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me

Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Will you recognise me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ohhhh.....

Don't you try to pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security

Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me

As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away

Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on - call my name
Will you all my name?

I say:
La la la...

  1. I love it JF, thanks for starting this page. I am ashamed to say I can still quote the majority of that movie word-for-word....Glad to see that a lot of you are still getting together and staying in touch. I will be retiring from the Navy in January and have been trying to plan a trip back to the Bay Area, I haven't been there since 1999, and haven't been to Vallejo since long before that. Looking forward to seeing how much things have changed, and how much they haven't, maybe a 30 year reunion is just the ticket to lure me back for a visit....

  2. John: Thanks for signing on as a Contributor. Don't be ashamed brother -- I love that movie too. I think I watched it with my 3 young kids a few years ago but they were still too young to appreciate it. The release of that movie in our senior year was ideal for us.

We'll definitely have a 30th reunion. What do you think of a family picnic instead of a formal one in a hall?

  3. Know Your Slots will replicate my interests in understanding the various ways have the ability to|you probably can} 1xbet play slots, video games that give you a potential edge, casino promotions and techniques and how one can get the most out of it. Slots are often found on bases where there is be} valuable little to do, like Diego Garcia – a 12-sq.-mile island within the Indian Ocean with a population of simply over four,000 individuals – where the Navy runs fifty two slot machines. And they are often performed by service members as younger as 18 – individuals who wouldn't be allowed to enter most casinos in the us before they flip 21. Even in casinos, many players just like the social facet of sitting at a poker or craps table where they can meet different individuals, and the potential to win cash is only one of many perks. Some have a mistaken perception that they're actually going to hit the jackpot.
